Woollensbrook Crematorium re-opens as a funeral SuperVenue

Woollensbrook Cemetery & Crematorium has re-opened as a funeral SuperVenue, offering bereaved families the chance to personalise their loved one’s service to unprecedented levels.

The crematorium temporarily closed last month for a period of two weeks for its chapel to be renovated and fitted with state-of-the-art technology that enables funerals to be more uniquely personal than ever before.

Woollensbrook Cemetery & Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 42 sites in England, Scotland and Wales, and which is trusted by more families than any other provider to deliver funerals for their loved ones.

All Westerleigh's locations are set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect, while benefiting from exceptional care and support from its teams.

The launch of Woollensbrook as a SuperVenue was timed to take place during Dying Matters Awareness Week. A VIP launch event which took place on Tuesday May 5 was attended by the Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Karen Trew, and local funeral directors and celebrants.

From now on, mourners attending service at Woollensbrook Cemetery & Crematorium can be greeted by their loved one’s name and cherished photo displayed on the external welcome screen, setting the tone for the service ahead.

Inside the chapel, a beautifully-cureated theme will be projected onto the entire front wall – canvas – accompanied by harmoniously coordinated soundscapes and lighting.

There is a range of canvas themes to choose from to reflect the life of the person being remembered.

Woollensbrook Cemetery & Crematorium Manager Mark Winnock said: “We are proud to be able to offer the opportunity to personalise funerals to unprecedented levels to our bereaved communities.

“The feedback received from Westerleigh Group’s SuperVenues already operating in other parts of the country has been extremely positive, and I look forward to supporting the bereaved near and further afield to have the chance to create the most memorable tributes to their loved ones.

“Whether it’s a waterfall or a seasonal background, or even a football stadium, there is a wide range of themes and choices available, with many options to tailor the displays to be specifically relevant to the person being honoured.”
